Anaïs Nin (1903-1977) was a French Cuban American essayist, novelist, diarist, and short story author. Born in France and raised in Europe, Nin moved to New York for High School, becoming fluent in English and retaining her French while losing Spanish. Nin’s most famous works have been her published journals from her adolescence. Source
